Jackson Co. Budget Looking Good for 2015

Jackson County officials say the proposed budget is looking up. No cuts are expected and all county employees will receive a 3% pay raise.

The Jackson County Board of Supervisors President, Troy Ross, says the expansion at Chevron brought in more revenue this year for the county. Ross says while residential growth has decreased, along with assessed value of homes, industrial growth has still been strong.

Ross says, “We’re going to be able to do most of the projects that we’ve got out there that are critical projects. Old Fort Bayou Road is a road, that’s one that’s going to be funded. We’ve got money that when we start doing the Cook Road expansion, we will actually be able to make some additional changes there. The budget looks pretty sound for Jackson County.”

The county will hold a budget hearing Monday night to finalize and vote on the budget.
