IP Casino announces Wreaths of Hope contest results

Local nonprofits went bell-to-bell in a wreath decorating competition. The IP Hotel Casino Resort Spa hosted a friendly competition giving away $10,000 to those who help Gulf Coast families.

The IP Hotel and Casino counted all votes they received from their inaugural Wreaths of Hope decorating competition. Mental Health Association of South MS Executive Director Kay Daneault said, “There are so many organizations out there that do so many worthy things. So, we were really honored to be a part of this.”

Twelve nonprofit organizations who support Gulf Coast families got creative including the Mental Health Association of South Mississippi. “Our staff was super excited to be able to come up with a creative way to show our mission on the wreath. So that was really fun being able to put it together and then just being able to put some information out there to people who support us saying hey you gotta vote, vote every day and reminding them that we are still here and we’re still working through all of this. So, it was really fun idea.”

The Humane Society of South Mississippi received the most votes and accepted a check for $3,000 to go toward their cause.

What the IP was not expecting is that at in-person voting locations those who voted not only cast their vote, but they also left a donation which means that each organization walked away with a little more than they expected.

The overwhelming response received for this event motivates the IP to go bigger in 2021. IP Hotel and Casino Marketing Director Kim Goetz said, “Next year we hope to expand it and have even more. We have another super-secret location that we’re talking about actually maybe able to get another 12 as well.”
