International airport receives grant

For the first time, the state of Mississippi has decided to provide some incentives for expansion at state airports. The Senate and House of Representatives passed a bill that would authorize the Mississippi Air Service Development Program.
This program will allocate 750,000 dollars to different airports around the state. They can use this money to promote and expand their facilities.
Gulfport-Biloxi Airport Director Clay Williams says this money can be used in several different ways. “Goal is to have an incentive program that would entice an air carrier to move to this market or any commercial market in Mississippi to potentially provide additional air service.”
Air services could include additional airlines or increased frequency of flights.
