Inmate escapes Alabama jail

The search is on for an armed and dangerous escapee from Alabama.
Coosa County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. marshals are searching for 27-year-old Shane Anthony Vernon. He escaped from county jail on Sunday around 2:30 p.m. Authorities say Vernon was let out of his cell to use the phone. After a guard failed to secure one of the doors, he walked into the maintenance area where he was able to bypass four security doors.
He is believed to be responsible for two home invasions, stealing guns, and vehicles since breaking out. This is not the first time Vernon has fled. He got away back in October, but was captured days later.
Vernon is 5’9” with tattoos on his forearms, neck, shoulder, and fist that reads “ride or die.” If you have any information please contact the Coosa County Sheriff’s Office at 256-377-2211.
