Infinity Science’s Wear it Wednesday Showcases Extreme Outfits

It was 50 years ago today the first American walked in space, and while the technology has changed since Ed White’s time in orbit, the reason behind the missions hasn’t.
The Infinity Science Center’s summer exhibit features some of the extreme outfits humanity has created to exist in the harshest environments in the world. Today, experts show just what it takes to keep out of the vacuum of space. Greg Banse, a French exchange student, said, “In the suit, there are different layers, used for everything like, the psi, drinking water in the suit; they have diapers, and all kinds of stuff. It’s cool.”
Today’s suits don’t allow for much movement, something NASA engineers say needs to be addressed as we prepare for trips beyond Earth’s orbit.
