Infant found unresponsive at Biloxi hotel dies, charges upgraded to capital murder

Christian Cookmeyer 1

Harrison County Coroner Brian Switzer has confirmed the four-month-old child found unresponsive in a Biloxi hotel has died.

Biloxi police officers answered a call Saturday about the child. They identified the person caring for the child as Christian Angel Cookmeyer. His charges have been amended from felony child endangerment to capital murder by Harrison County Court Judge Nick Patano.

The infant’s mother stated through Facebook today that her daughter, Maddison-Jaide, “gained her wings.” She shares in a post dedicated to her child, “It was an honor to meet you and be your mother.”

New Orleans Children’s Hospital treated the child for skull fractures and bleeding on her brain. She passed away shortly before 4 p.m.

Maddison-Jaide’s family asks for the community’s prayers. They will hold a balloon release on Tuesday, 20 December, near the Biloxi Lighthouse.
