Inaugural College Hockey Tournament

If you’ve been dying to see hockey on the Coast since the Surge left, you’re in luck. In November, the “Coolest Game on the Coast” will be back. South Mississippi Hockey will be hosting the inaugural Battle on the Beach college hockey showcase on November 13th and 14th featuring Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Tulane and Middle Tennessee.
Tickets go on sale this week and will be $30 per day. A portion of the proceeds from the event will go to USO Gulf Coast and Wounded Warriors of Mississippi.
A number of the college players who will be on the ice actually got their start right here on the Gulf Coast.
Andy Makal, president and general manager of South Mississippi Hockey, said, “It’s been a year and a half since the Surge suspended operations and hockey fans haven’t had an outlet to see anything. So by putting together this Battle on the Beach, it’s an interesting way to sort of keep it an SEC rivalry type of thing but on the ice.”
If you are a former Sea Wolves or Surge season ticket holder admission will be $40 for the weekend with your old seats reserved for you.
