Improving cell phone coverage in Mississippi
Does your cell phone lose service in some areas of Mississippi? Well, hopefully soon that will change.
The FCC has a map that says 90 percent of Mississippi has cell phone service, but Sam Britton, the public service commissioner for the Southern District, believes that more than ten percent of the state lacks cell phone service.
Britton is working to make sure everyone is given access. “The reason that it is important to make sure that the FCC map is correct is because the federal government does give out money based on trying to improve cell phone coverage throughout the state. So we want to make sure that the map is correct so Mississippi does not miss out on any funds that would come to improve the cell phone service area.”
