Immunization fair for school-aged children

With some schools starting this week and many others starting the first week of August now is the time to make sure your child is up-to-date on their shots.

The sixth annual Immunization Fair starts today.  The fair took place today and will also be Wednesday and Thursday at the Lopez Elementary School on St. John Street in Biloxi.

The fair is available to every child even those out-of-state. It’s especially important for children entering kindergarten and seventh grade so they can be compliant with the immunizations required to enter school.

The fair is put on by the City of Biloxi, Biloxi Excel by 5, Coastal Family Health, and Biloxi Public Schools.

They urge parents to get their kids the vaccines they need for school now since it’s a busy time for pediatric clinics. Wendy Williams with Coastal Family Health Center said, “It’s very difficult to get in. It’s very difficult for them to manage to get you in. That’s one of the reasons we decided to do this to take the burden off. Plus, the health department is very big on COVID vaccines right now. So, to get these that you need is somewhat difficult.”

The services are free and parents be sure to bring your ID, insurance card, and your child’s shot record.
