Immunization Fair in Biloxi

With the start of school just around the corner, the rush to get kids their shots is on.

That’s why one Biloxi organization is going the extra mile to help parents make sure their kids get the needed shots and paper work before school is in session.

Biloxi Excel by 5 hosted their third annual Immunization Fair Saturday at Coastal Family Health and today at Lopez Elementary.

Students entering kindergarten or entering a Mississippi school for the first time will need to provide the school with a form 121 showing the student has received all of their boosters.  Dr. Wendy Williams with Coastal Family Health Center said, “Mostly in the old days, people would go to the health department and be taken care of, but the health department has kind of reorganized and isn’t as readily available. So, now the wait is weeks out to have an appointment at the health department or you could go to your pediatric office. Again, they are swamped as well. So, getting in is rather difficult.”

The event will take place again tomorrow from 9 a.m. until noon at Lopez Elementary. You will need to bring a photo ID, an insurance card, and a shot record to be able to take part.
