Icy road conditions, use extreme caution

The icy roads have proven treacherous for drivers in Jackson County as well.
Multiple wrecks were reported on the Pascagoula high rise early this morning. Doug Adams with the Pascagoula Police Department tells News 25 that from 2:30 this morning to 6:15 a.m. there were 12 accidents total. At one point, officers were working eight accidents at one time.
Shortly after these wrecks, Pascagoula police announced all bridges in the city were closed until further notice. “We are asking people to stay at home. Don’t drive unless you absolutely have to. It’s not just the bridges that have ice on them. It is the roads as well. The conditions are very, very treacherous and if you don’t need to be out on the road this morning then you need to stay at home. We know we are going to be salting the bridges again this afternoon, but if we are down to one lane again we ask people to drive slow, stay in that one lane until they get all the way across the bridge regardless if they are going eastbound and westbound,” said Adams.
News 25 will continue to update you as we learn more about any delays or any bridge or road closings.
