I-10 Closed at Texas/Louisiana Line
Interstate 10 is now closed in both directions at the Texas-Louisiana state line due to flooding.
Because of the rising floodwaters from the Sabine River now covering parts of the road, officials decided to close the interstate late Tuesday. The Starks-Toomey exit is the farthest west you’ll be able to go heading toward Texas. Some of the detours could put drivers up to six hours out of the way.
The Sabine River has crested upstream of the interstate but it was not expected to stop rising at I-10 until at least late Wednesday.
Traffic officials in both states will continue to monitor the roads and water levels. I-10 will open up once the water has receded from the roads and officials believe it is safe to drive.
