Hurricane Katrina Memorial Blood Drive

The 13th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina devastating South Mississippi is just days away.

Since 2005 the American Red Cross has hosted the Hurricane Katrina Memorial Blood Drive. This Tuesday and Wednesday, August 28th and 29th, you can head over to Edgewater Mall in Biloxi to donate. The event runs from noon until 7 p.m.

All blood types are eligible to donate, but if you’re type O negative or O positive, you are especially urged to donate. Edgewater Mall Terry Powell said, “It’s become one of the larger blood drives that we have here at the mall that will probably draw over two hundred pints of blood for the Katrina Blood Drive. It’s something again that started right after Katrina and we’ve held it here every year since.”

If you are planning to attend the blood drive remember to bring a blood donor card and driver’s license or two other forms of identification.
