Hurricane Hunters mission

This morning Lieutenant Colonel Jeff Ragusa, chief pilot for the Hurricane Hunters, gave community members a full rundown on the Hurricane Hunter mission.

The Hurricane Hunters are aircrews based at Keesler that fly into tropical cyclones in the north Atlantic Ocean and northeastern Pacific Ocean to gather weather data.

Lt. Col. Ragusa tells News 25 with hurricane season in full swing, the hurricane hunters are ready to deploy at any time. “Looks like we might well be deploying again to Hawaii this week. We have already been there once this season. I think we have flown four named storms so far. So, yea, we are beyond the preparation stages and we are getting ready to enter the heart of the season.”
