Hurley man guilty of DUI causing death in February 2016

A Hurley man pled guilty to DUI causing death and felony leaving the scene of an accident.
Twenty-five year-old Markey Tanner admitted to downing more than ten Jell-O shots and four to five beers before getting behind the wheel and striking 22-year-old Megan Dekleinhans as she was walking in D’Iberville.
Witnesses say after striking the victim, the defendant turned his lights off and fled the scene.
Tanner is facing a prison sentence between five and 45 years. His sentencing hearing is set for March 20th.
