Humane Society of South Mississippi in need of pet food for pantry

The Humane Society of South Mississippi is currently in need of certain pet supplies to help care for animals in need in our community.

This year, HSSM is continuing their community pet food pantry and donations are now being accepted. Each year, the goal of the pantry is to give thousands of pounds of cat and dog food to pet owners who may need a helping hand in caring for their furry friends.

Clinic Director Bianca Janik says there is especially a need for food this year and is glad the service is available for Coast residents. “Everybody at one point in their life is going to fall on tough times, and just because they are in a rough spot doesn’t mean that they should have to give up their animals, and so we are there, and we’re really happy and proud to be able to have this as a resource for our community.”

To donate any type of dog or cat food to HSSM you can drop off supplies at their adoptions or pet resource center.

Drop off times are Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. or on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each week.
