Humane Society offers emergency shelter for vulnerable pets
The Humane Society of South Mississippi is opening its doors as a temporary shelter for dogs at risk of having to stay outdoors.
HSSM will allow people who are going to a cold weather shelter to drop off their animals and have them safe, warm and dry for 48 hours.
Owners can drop off animals between 12 p.m. and 4 p.m. Monday at the Humane Society located on Highway 49 just south of 28th Street. A photo ID is required when the pet is dropped off at HSSM’s Pet Resources Department.
The shelter asks that the information is shared with any vulnerable community members that could benefit from this resource. HSSM will care and keep the animals warm for 48 hours.
