Humane Society of South Mississippi looking for fosters and volunteers
As summer quickly approaches, the Humane Society of South Mississippi is looking for heroes!
The Gulfport shelter hosted its Hero Open House Saturday. They are currently taking applications for fosters and volunteers.
During the summer, there is usually a surplus of kittens and puppies who need time to grow a little before getting into a shelter or adoption.
Volunteers help out with tasks at the shelter, while fosters open up their home temporarily to shelter animals. Volunteer Coordinator CeCe Collins said, “Our fosters take animals out of the shelters that need a little bit of extra space, maybe need a little time out of the shelter. They are giving them… giving us room so that we can take in more animals. But our fosters are also enriching the life of our animals by giving them extra love and showing them what it’s like to be in a home.”
If you would like to foster or volunteer, just reach out to the Humane Society at HSSM.org.
