Humane Society of South Mississippi holds Barks and Barbells to raise funds

The Humane Society of South Mississippi, along with Crunch Fitness in D’Iberville, gave several guests a ruff workout at the gym to help raise funds for the shelter.

Guests were able to visit the Crunch Fitness gym where they were able to take a workout class for just a $10 donation.

Shelter employees were also at the location with five of their dogs up for adoption.

Overall, the shelter hoped to raise $300 for the event which will go towards funding the Humane Society and its dogs. HSSM Vet Technician Heather Greer said, “Oh it’s absolutely crucial. Our shelter runs off of donations alone, so not having these kinds of events would probably put us down quite a bit on funding for taking care of these guys. These guys are here just because they were some of the ones that we knew would do well at this event. Right now, in house we have probably about 350 dogs alone.”

If you would like to learn how to adopt any of the pups, call the Humane Society at 228-863-3354.
