House fire in Gulfport leaves one injured

This afternoon a house fire in Gulfport left one woman injured and the structure burned.

According to Harrison County Fire Chief Pat Sullivan, he received a call around 2:30 p.m. about a structure fire on Robin Oaks Drive.

When the team arrived to the scene, they found a house burning along with a burn victim who was able to escape.

Rescue 5 was called in and took the victim to a nearby hospital. Chief Sullivan said, “Right now it’s just under investigation. The Harrison County Fire Marshal’s Office, the Harrison County Sheriff’s Department and state fire marshal’s office will be looking into the cause of the fire. We’re going to do an investigation to try to make a determination of what the cause was, but right now we don’t have the cause.”

A resident of the house tells News 25 that the victim, his daughter, told him she was going to burn the house down after an argument.

He says he then left the house and found out later that she allegedly attempted to burn the house down, but accidentally became trapped inside the home and got burned herself.
