House Fire in Gulfport
A fire in Gulfport ripped through a vacant home tonight leaving a family in disbelief.
According to Battalion Chief Greg Griffin, a neighbor called when he saw smoke and flames billowing from the house on Eastside Avenue. Battalion Chief Griffin says no one was inside the home at the time and it has been vacant since May of last year. A relative of the home owner tells News 25, the family was in the process of taking over the home after their loved one passed and they did not have insurance on the home just yet.
The cause of the fire is under investigation. A relative of the homeowner tells News 25 the home has not had electricity for months.
