Hospice of Light ribbon cutting

Hospice of Light, a branch of Singing River Health System, has been serving the lower six counties of Mississippi since 1994. They are welcoming growth at a ribbon cutting ceremony for a new facility in Ocean Springs.

The new facility is located at the edge of the Ocean Springs Hospital. Many members of the community came out. Ocean Springs Mayor Shea Dobson was there to cut the ribbon.

The staff is specially trained for providing help to veterans as well as providing hospice for children.

Hospice of Light Director Crystal Murray says Hospice of Care is very different because they are the only joint commission hospice on the Coast. “A lot of people think that hospice is designed to care for someone at the very end of life when really if hospice is called in earlier we’re able to support the family. We’re able to prepare everybody for what may come. I want them to know that hospice is here to help.”

Hospice of Light feels that with this new location they will be able to better serve their patients and now they will have more visibility within Jackson County.
