On the horizon for the Port of Gulfport

This morning at the Gulfport Connections Breakfast put on by the chamber, Jonathan Daniels, director of the Port of Gulfport, gave an update on the port and what he sees on the horizon for 2020.

Daniels spoke on 2019 being a year of success with many accomplishments, including how he met and surpassed the 1,300 job requirements which was required for them to move onto their next phase of development.

Looking into 2020, they still plan to expand jobs, especially within their Ocean Enterprise Facility, set to be completed within the next two years.

Daniels also mentioned their imports for the NCBC Base and National Guard and how the port was affected by the Bonnet Carre Spillway opening. “It’s really a continuation of the diversification strategy that we have put in place the last several years and it has been successful and we certainly hope that at least one of them comes about in 2020. There is a great synergy and everyone seems to be working together very well to enhance economic development.”

Daniels says the projects they have planned for 2020 are big and will be exciting to community members once they lay the solidifying ground.
