Hometown Hero Day Sendoff
Members of the Mississippi Army National Guard received a big public sendoff on Saturday morning as they prepared to deploy overseas.
Residents lined Highway 90 in Pascagoula and waved flags to show support for members of the 859th Engineer Company. Motorcycle riders from the Patriot Guard led the procession of buses to their destination.
Pascagoula Mayor Dane Maxwell also declared Saturday as ‘Hometown Heroes Day’ in the city. “Well, we approached them after we found out about it. They were just overjoyed in the fact that we would be willing to do that.”
The 859th Engineer Company is headed to Kuwait for the nine month deployment.
