For 50 years, the Home of Grace in Vancleave has been a lighthouse for people struggling with addiction.

Saturday, the faith-based addiction recovery program is celebrating a milestone of 50 years with their annual homecoming. Attending the event is Governor Phil Bryant, an advocate and friend of the Home of Grace, who also founded the annual Home of Grace ride and festival. The 50th anniversary homecoming service will include video presentations, musical performances, alumni stories, and an award presentation.

F.G. Ware, Public Relations for the Home of Grace, says, "In 1965, January the second, brother Bill Barton started this program with two men, and over the years it has evolved through tens of thousands of men and women have come in their hour of need looking for help, and it’s been one of the most successful programs in America, and I’ve been a part of it for the past 20 years and I’m excited about being any part of it I could be. It’s been great."

The event will be held Saturday at 3 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Gulfport. Guests may register online at www.homeofgrace.org.
