Hobo Celebration Day on Saturday

Railroads are such an important part of our history in South Mississippi. This weekend, the Coast Model Railroad Museum is celebrating an important part of the past while helping a good cause.
The museum will host a Hobo Day on Saturday to take a look at American history and how those who hitched rides on the rails looking for work contributed to today’s society. From noon to 5 p.m., there will be hobo music, stories and a hobo costume contest.
The museum is asking those who attend to bring a canned food item to support our local pantries that help the needy. Coast Model Railroad Museum’s Public Relations Specialist Tim Billings said, “We’re gonna look at the historical aspect of hobos and their relationship to the railroads in America. Hobos were known to be generous people, so we’re asking all our guests to come tomorrow to bring a canned item.”
Winners of the costume contest will receive a Walmart gift card.
