Hobnob with Long Beach city officials

This morning, alderman and other Long Beach city leaders met to discuss city projects and its growth.

The purpose of the hobnob was to show their transparency with the community. Each alderman got a chance to speak about what is happening in their ward as well as take questions from the audience.

Some of the topics brought up were a new RV park going up soon, the gateway project, road work, and maintenance and how the harbor is seeking money from the BP restoration funds.

Alderman at Large Donald Frazer says with all of the projects in the air, it is an exciting time to be a part of Long Beach. “We have been behind the times of growth so when you look at it, we are still a blank canvas and that’s a good thing. Now we are in it. People are hearing the buzz of the things we are doing and it is not a credit thing for the board or anything like that, it is for the love of the town.”

Another huge topic on the minds of those at the meeting was the possibility of a casino in their city. Alderman Frazer says the casino has had site approval, but they are still working on finalizing funding.

It would be located just west of Cleveland Avenue to South Burke where the old K-Mart was located.
