Highway Patrol Checkpoints Will Be Out in Full Force This Weekend

With the long Memorial Day weekend ahead, Highway Patrol is making sure people along the coast are driving safely.
Lieutenant John Poulos, director of the public affairs division, says highway patrol will be conducting random checkpoints along the coast. The checkpoints started at 6 tonight and will continue until Monday at midnight. Lt. Poulos says not only do troopers want to make sure drivers aren’t drinking, but that they are also practicing safe driving.
With low gas prices, Lt. Poulos expects heavy traffic this weekend. He also wants to encourage those traveling to leave early and avoid speeding.
