Highway 90 traffic plan for Scrapin’ the Coast

Traffic is expected to be heavy this weekend for ‘Scrapin’ the Coast.’

Motorists driving down Highway 90 are likely to see more than 2,500 traffic cones in or near the center of eastbound and westbound lanes from I-110 to the city limits of Debuys Road.

The plan is in place in case the city needs to limit traffic to one lane each way if traffic begins to gridlock.

Major Chris De Back with the Biloxi Police Department shares tips on how to avoid getting caught in this heavy traffic. “Pretty much between I-110 and Debuys Road in Biloxi, you’re going to see heavy traffic. Anybody in that area, we ask to look for an alternative route. You’re certainly going to want to leave early if you have a time you have to be somewhere. Check out that route through ‘B Alert.’”

B Alert is the City of Biloxi’s messaging system. They will be pushing traffic updates through the app all weekend. To join text ‘BILOXI’ to 888777.
