Highway 90 pedestrian overpass construction

Motorists on Highway 90 will start to see the beginning of construction for a pedestrian overpass connecting MGM Park to the Beau Rivage.
Site work began today on the overpass, just west of Caillavet Street. The first work in this MDOT project is the installation of temporary fencing at the work site. Motorists should expect lane closures during the project sometimes.
The completed overpass will streamline safer pedestrian crossings in the heavily traveled area. Cecilia Dobbs-Walton with the City of Biloxi Public Affairs said, “We have a lot of restaurants, hotels, and shops that are downtown and we have a lot that are coming downtown. There’s more and more for people to do and there will be more people walking back and forth so this is our way to keep them safe.”
The project is expected to wrap up in December. Planning for another elevated crossing is in the work in the area of Highway 90 near the Biloxi Small Craft Harbor.
