High School Volleyball: Stone vs. Pass Christian

Volleyball history ready to be made in tonight’s 4A South State finals between Stone High and Pass Christian.

History already has been made by both schools in their first-ever trips to the semi-finals.

The Lady Tomcats have won three consecutive district titles since the program’s inception, but have made it to this point and same goes for the Lady Pirates who are in the midst of their first playoff run since 2013.

Pass wins 3-2. Incredible season for the Tomcats, but it’s the Pirates heading to the state title match for the first time in school history. “Everything. We have worked so hard this season, every practice, practicing till six o’clock just to get to this point, school history.”

Pass Christian Head Coach Kendra Bensch said, “Seriously, I think I had a little bit of heart failure. I know I definitely got my steps in today. So, it’s just keeping the girls focused, and as this program has advanced and as this program has continued to develop and progress, they have learned that mental game, and even through the playoffs they have learned, hey, we can’t get down, we can’t let a couple of points swing affect us like that, we just have to dig deep and show them who we are.”

The Lady Pirates draw Pontotoc in Saturday’s championship game.
