High School Girls Soccer: Long Beach vs. South Jones
After starting the season with a tie against Ocean Springs, the Long Beach girls soccer team had gone a perfect 17-0 entering tonight’s first round playoff game. During that stretch the Lady Bearcats had only allowed one goal, a trend that continued against South Jones.

Guys are moving on as well, with a 2-0 victory over the Braves.
Here’s Long Beach Girls Head Coach Neil Scott on his team’s gritty performance in its first overtime game of the year. “In overtime, sometimes it’s the grittier performance, sometimes it’s the less fatigued girls, sometimes it’s the lucky chance. I mean, when we see tired legs, we also see mistakes and that’s something that we want to give up very few of, if any, and it’s also something we want to pounce on if the opposing team makes one. Tonight, we worked hard to do something similar to that.”
The Lady Bearcats draw Pearl River Central in the second round with a kickoff set for 6 p.m. on Saturday.
