High School football: East Central at Poplarville

Of the 12 high school football playoff games taking place across Mississippi tonight, only two of them featured a match-up of the unbeatens. One of those was 12-0 East Central on the road at 13-0 Poplarville in the 4A South State final.
The boys from Hurley came into Friday’s showdown seeking their first ever state title game appearance, but their first loss of the season would also mean their last game of the season. Poplarville trying to defend its crown as the reigning South State champion.
It was really one of those whoever had the ball last was gonna win kind of games which goes to East Central. The Hornets advance to the state title game for the first time in school history with the 52-45 win. Someone had to take the loss as the dream season comes to an end for Poplarville.
A heartbreaker for Resurrection Catholic on the road tonight as the Eagles fall to undefeated Nanih Waiya. 36-32 final in that one.
