High school football decision looming large
The coronavirus pandemic isn’t going away and neither is the desire to play high school football in the fall.
Unfortunately that desire already took a backseat to the current reality in New Mexico where the season was pushed back to the spring on Thursday.
As a result, the state of Mississippi has to at least have the same conversation.
The Mississippi High School Activities Association is planning to meet at 10 a.m. Tuesday to discuss not only the future of high school football, but all fall sports.
One source tells News 25, what’s on the table is a wide range of options, starting with a completely normal regular season all the way up to flipping the fall and spring calendars.
Other contingency plans exist in between those two extremes when it comes to scheduling and fan attendance policies.
A firm decision is expected to come out of Tuesday’s meeting leading up to what’s scheduled to be the first official football practice on August 3rd.
