Heavy rainfall expected this week

The Harrison County Board of Supervisors met this afternoon and signed a local proclamation and requested a state of emergency to the governor in regards to Tropical Storm Cindy.
Harrison County EMA Director Rupert Lacy tells News 25 the rain has been persistent with heavier rain fall and radar models are showing more storm activity going towards the Gulf Coast. He explains the track of the storm is aiming towards the Louisiana-Texas line. “This has been that unusual system that a lot of the heavier stuff is on the east side and the northeast side and it spreads out quite large into the Gulf of Mexico. That’s going to be the persistency that we’re looking at to create our rain event and our flooding and our river flooding.”
Lacy explains Tropical Storm Cindy is a disorganized storm, but he does not expect it to change into a hurricane. However, we will experience double digit rainfall and possible road closures beginning tomorrow.
