Heavy Fire Destroys Gulfport Home
A home is demolished after firefighters put out a heavy fire in Gulfport yesterday.
The flames were so high when they got there that it took the Gulfport Fire Department about 20 minutes to get the fire under control. The home on 25th Street could not be saved.
The 9-1-1- call was made to the fire department around 11 a.m. Gulfport firefighter Chris Henderson tells News 25 no one was home at the time.
“When we first got there, the fire was through the roof and it was involving mostly the back of the structure. Once it gets into the roof it has a tendency to run the whole length to it. So, it’s one of the harder ones to fight,” said Henderson.
It took about 22 firefighters to put out the flames. No one was injured.
