Health officials: 6th death from coronavirus in Mississippi reported
JACKSON, Miss. (WXXV) – Thursday morning, the Mississippi State Department of Health reported one new death from coronavirus (COVID-19) in Mississippi, bringing the state total to six.
The case was a Rankin County male between ages 80 and 85 with underlying conditions. He died while hospitalized.
Deaths have been previously reported in Hancock, Holmes, Tunica, Webster and Wilkinson counties.The total for COVID-19 cases Mississippi now stands at 485, with 2776 individuals tested by the MSDH Public Health Laboratory.
In South Mississippi, MSDH reports 16 cases of COVID-19 in Pearl River County, 31 cases in Harrison County, 16 in Jackson County, 6 in Hancock County, and 1 in George County.
The MSDH also reported that following this reported death, the totals for those confirmed and any resulting deaths would be updated once a day at 10 a.m.
