Health is Golden at USM Gulf Park Campus

The University of Southern Mississippi’s Gulf Park campus launched their “Health is Golden” campaign today, thanks to a grant of nearly $200,000 from the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Mississippi Foundation.
The campaign seeks to create a culture of wellness on campus by providing recreational activities, wellness programs and educational services to Southern Miss students, faculty and staff. USM Gulf Park Vice President Dr. Steve Miller said, “We’re very excited to have that grant. It’s allowing us to create a wellness environment for the campus community. It’s allowing us to continue completing our fitness and health centers, purchasing equipment, staffing it with different types of fitness and health professionals and really starting to create a culture of health and wellness for the entire campus.”
In addition to educating the campus community about nutrition and exercise, the grant will provide for the construction of a new outdoor fitness are on the Gulf Park campus.
