Jeramey Anderson, Billy Knight Head to Runoff for Democratic Nomination in Moss Point Mayoral Race

Over in Moss Point, a heated race Tuesday for the Mayor’s seat now that former Mayor Mario King pleaded guilty of one count of federal charges in court, and was removed of his mayoral title, giving the seat to Ward 3 Alderman Robert Byrd to be the Mayor Pro Tem.

Democrats Jeramey Anderson and Billy Knight will head to a runoff on April 27th. Knight tallied 47-percent of Tuesday’s vote. Anderson came in with 27-percent.

Other candidates included Tenesha Batiste who got 9-percent of the vote; Sherwoord Bradford, Sr. got 14-percent; Ashelia McCorvey rounded up two-percent and Shria Stallworth  also garnered two-percent of the vote.

The winner of the runoff will face Independent Howard Bailey and Republican Richard McBride on June 8th in the General Election.
