Hattiesburg Zoo comes to the Coast

The Hattiesburg Zoo made a stop at the Edgewater Mall in Biloxi on Saturday.
The educational presentation discussed humans impact on the world. The zoo crew came with a lesson that was aimed at teaching conservation and building a better world. They used three different types of animals to speak on things like littering and being kind to animals we may be afraid of. Hattiesburg Zoo Education Manager Jeremy Cumpton said, “We had our American alligator here today to talk about conservation and about how they actually had a very good success story with it. We had our American kestrel to talk about littering and the effects that littering has on bird populations and other populations and of course, we had our speckled king snake talk about animals we are afraid of, but that does not mean we need to hurt them.”
Youth had a chance to learn about a local endangered species, the Sand Hill Crane, and discuss how there are less than 4,000 tigers remaining in the world.
