Harrison County Utility working on main sewer break in Long Beach

A main line sewer pipe broke in Long Beach yesterday along Beatline Road between Johnson and Pineville Road.

Today, Harrison County Utility is on-site working on repairs. Construction on the temporary sewer repair is expected to be complete before dark and Beatline Road will reopen by sunset.

Harrison County Utility is looking forward to more construction on sewer lines in Long Beach for permanent solutions. Harrison County Utility Authority Project Manager Derek Bullock said, “We have a sewer main that’s broken, we have an old concrete pipe that’s deteriorated and we’re doing an emergency repair on Beatline Road, here in Long Beach. We’ve actually got a project that’s under design that’s out for bid to repair this and replace it. It is partially funded by BP and the Department of Environmental Qualities, look for that construction real soon.”

There is no environmental hazard as construction is underway to repair the sewer break.
