Harrison County State of the County

It was a packed house inside the IP Casino for the Harrison County Board of Supervisors State of the County address.
Topics that Board President Kent Jones addressed include improving the quality of life in Harrison County, the success of the fairgrounds and the $112 million budget.
One major project in the works is bringing Seacoast Gas Pipeline to the state port. The initial $450 million investment is expected to bring between 40 and 50 high end jobs to the Coast. After the completion of four phases in the next few years, it will be an investment of over a billion dollars.
Although moving forward was a hot topic, Jones made sure everyone remembered where they were on this day 12 years ago. “We have to take a step back and send our thoughts and prayers for our friends in Texas because we know 12 years ago we were on bending knees ourselves with Hurricane Katrina so we’ll never forget, but we’re just looking forward to today and we think we got a good program headed.”
The State of the County address gives an opportunity for citizens to connect with county leaders and learn more about the development in the area.
