Harrison County Sand Beach Authority ahead of Labor Day

Miles of beach in Harrison County are being cleaned up today ahead of the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Harrison County Sand Beach Authority is out in full force profiling the Coast after several rain events over the last few weeks caused heavy cuts in the sand.

They’re also emptying trash barrels and doing any cleanup necessary to help keep our coastal beaches in top shape.

Sand Beach Authority Director Chuck Loftis says there are a few things for us to keep in mind this weekend. “We have a lot of visitors hopefully that will come down. We still have the water under advisory, but all the beaches in Harrison County are open. So, we’re trying to make it as nice for the locals and the visitors alike.”

Loftis also says glass on the beach is a huge problem they see in Harrison County and reminds everyone to leave it at home, especially this weekend.

Sand Beach Authority will be out again after Labor Day for another cleanup and he says you can make it a little easier on them by simply using the trash cans.
