Harrison County Fair preview

The Harrison County Fair is in less than a week and preparations are underway at the grounds in Gulfport.
Workers were out bright and early this morning setting up ticket booths and getting the Harrison County Fairgrounds ready for next Wednesday.
This year the fair will have a nationally televised rodeo and youth rodeo that officials say will feature riders from all around the country. After signal issues last year, the fair added new communication technology for better cellular reception.
Parking and admission are both free. Harrison County Fair Director of Public Affairs Jourdan Hartshorn said, “Free concerts, I mean we have I Heart Memphis, who sings ‘Hit the Quan.’ That’s famous. We have Rae Lynn who sings ‘The Love Triangle’ and ‘God Love Girls,’ she’s coming out, free. All you got to do is bring your blankets and bring your chairs. It is blown out of proportion from last year which is awesome. We’re still looking for volunteers. We’re still looking for sponsors.”
The fair’s Facebook page has registration info for those interested in becoming a sponsor or a volunteer. Pick up a two-liter of Coke at a local supermarket for a $5 discount on unlimited rides.
