Harrison County children’s advocate retires after 34 years

Today, dozens of people gathered in Gulfport to celebrate the retirement of Cindy Alexander.

Alexander is retiring as a court administrator from the Harrison County Youth Court and has been a tireless advocate for children in Harrison County for the past 34 years.

Today, her success was celebrated with an outdoors luau style barbeque alongside her family, friends, and coworkers.

Alexander says she plans to take the summer off before figuring out the next chapter in her life. “So, I’m not leaving it because most people say ‘I’m tired of my job.’ I love what I do. I just need to spend some time with family and friends, but with the support of our judge, Judge Alfonso, our staff, the board of supervisors in Harrison County, they’ve made my job very easy.”

Alexander says she hopes to get involved with more volunteer work post retirement.
