Harrison County bond informational meeting

Another informational meeting about the Harrison County issue took place this afternoon at Lyman Elementary.

Parents who live in the Harrison County School District learned about what they will be voting for on November 6th. If the bond passes, a K-8 school will be built on the east side of the district near the D’Iberville area, a new middle school will be built on the west side of the district in West Harrison.  The bond also includes renovating North Gulfport Middle.

Parents also asked questions about safety improvements and not having a tax increase if the bond passes. Harrison County School District Athletic Director Averie Bush said, “It’s a large bond issue and a large school district. A lot of schools are going to be affected. People are trying to really get an understanding of the specifics, particularly the specifics as it relates to them and their situation.”

If you missed this informational meeting the next opportunity to learn about the bond will be November 1st at D’Iberville High School at 6 p.m.
