Harrison County Board Honors Former Supervisor

The Harrison County Fairgrounds is currently home to numerous events including equestrian and dog shows. Today, the Harrison County Board of Supervisors honored the man who first dreamed of transforming those very grounds.
Former District 4 Supervisor Phillip Allen served the board from 1988 to 1991 but never lived to see what the fairground would develop into.
Today, District 4 Supervisor John Johnson presented a proclamation naming a soon-to-be-built arena after Allen. The board has big plans for the fairgrounds and they say it all began with the former supervisor’s vision. Allen’s daughter, Debra Godber, was on hand to accept the honor. “We saw our dad dedicate countless hours and hard work. He was like Mr. Johnson said, a man beyond his time. He had a vision and it came to exactly what he saw. And he wanted so much for Harrison County and dedicated those years to the residents.”
Phillip O. Allen passed away on November 7th, 2013 at the age of 71.
