Harrison Co. School district receives large donation to clear lunch debts

The holiday season may be over, but the season of giving is still strong here on the Coast.

The Harrison County School District received a check today for nearly $3,000 from the nonprofit School of Athens which includes alumni of Harrison County schools.

This large donation follows individual donations made by other donors this week to clear debts at North Gulfport Middle School and Harrison Central Elementary.

Food Service Director Brad Barlow says the donation made today will have a wide-reaching benefit for students in the district and is very much appreciated. “It’s just a very exciting time to know that there are people out there, former alumni of the school district that don’t forget about us. They continue to contribute.”

If you’d like to donate any amount to go towards student lunch debt call the district’s nutrition office at 228-539-6916.
