Harrison Central Football Picture Day
Tomorrow night, the high school football season rolls out the welcome mat with a wave of jamboree games across the Gulf Coast. All but six teams from the six coastal counties will be taking part in those preseason affairs.
One of them is Harrison Central fresh off today’s picture day, repping the new Nike uniforms. The Red Rebels are slated for a 5:30 p.m. match up versus Forrest County AHS which will be a controlled two quarter scrimmage at Gulfport.
Just a little taste of the format for next Friday’s Port City Bowl and a refresher course on what it’s like to get pad level with another opponent for the first time in months. Harrison Central Running back Keon Moore said, “Oh, I like picture day, you know what I’m saying? Show off our new uniforms that we got, but I’m really ready to put on the pads and get to hitting.”
Harrison Central Center Bryce Ramsey said, “Oh, I’m super ready. I’m just ready to start hitting other people than my own teammates, I’m just ready to hit. Ready to go after it.”
Harrison Central Head Football Coach Casey Cain said, “We’ve got a lot of new starters on offense, a lot of new starters on defense. So the biggest thing is just knock some rust off and try to figure out what they’ll do against other people besides themselves.”
Harrison Central’s regular season opener will also be at Gulfport against the newly formed Jefferson Davis County High School.
But until then it’s back to the jamborees and there’s plenty of that action to go around. The Admirals take on St. Stanislaus at 7 o’clock. West Harrison is heading all the way up to Hattiesburg for a 6 p.m. date with Purvis. Also part of a four team field is George County who’s paired up with Sumrall at 8 p.m. at Oak Grove.
Moving on to all the other 6 o’clock matchups is where we find Gautier at Vancleave, Stone at Ocean Springs, Poplarville at Jefferson Davis County, and St. Martin at Oak Grove.
Then at 7 p.m. it’s Bay High at Hancock, Wayne County at Biloxi, Moss Point at D’Iberville, and Pascagoula visiting East Central.
