Harrison Central Baseball: Brendan McCauley going to MGCCC
This afternoon, Harrison Central’s Brendan McCauley signed a national letter of intent to continue his baseball career at Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College.
As a .370 hitter during his junior season, McCauley is the team’s top bat returning this year as a senior. Listed as 5’7” and 135 pounds, the hard working second baseman didn’t get to the next level by accident. “Really, it’s just my work ethic in the gym. I’ve just been trying to put on weight, getting stronger, getting bigger, faster. So that’s really just my work ethic and the way I’ve gotten here. I can’t even – it’s surreal. I can’t even feel anything right now. I just can’t wait for it,” said McCauley said.
Harrison Central Head Baseball Coach Neil Frederic said, “I’ll try not to get emotional. I’m little. That guy is little. We never get respect as baseball players when you’re five foot nothing, a buck nothing. So ever since I’ve come on to this place, he was one of those guys that whatever his nickname was, he was just one of those kids that I guess I saw myself.”
McCauley also tallied 31 runs scored and 10 RBI in 26 games last year.
